Juniper is a very common shrub in hilly and mountainous areas rich in woods. The juniper berries are spherical. The smell of the berry is aromatic and the flavor, sweet at first, it is done at slightly acrid maturity. It is used in the kitchen to flavor all meat and fish dishes.
